Sara Gagliardi’s Bad Mortgage Bill

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 17:33:49 PDT
Rep. Sara Gagliardi, D-Arvada, my state representative, earned the special distinction of having a bad legislative idea dismantled by the fair-minded editors of the Rocky Mountain News: Perhaps the best thing that can be said about the American Dream Protection Act of 2008, due to be introduced in the legislature at any time, is that it’s ...]

Opening night for new Beveridge Place Pub

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 17:34:02 PDT
We called earlier this afternoon to check on the status of the new Beveridge Place Pub (slightly delayed by a little red tape), and the person who answered the phone said they were expecting to find out by late afternoon if it was thumbs up for opening — Just checked back minutes ago and learned they got “thumbs up,” so they opened the new location (just north of the old one) immediately, and starting at 6 pm, they want you to know, it’s “Georgetown Brewers’ Night.” Share This

is the number of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan suffering from post traumatic stress: About 300,000 U.S. troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder or depression, but about half receive no care, an independent study said on Thursday. The study by the RAND Corp. also estimated that another 320,000 troops have sustained a possible traumatic brain injury during deployment. But researchers could not say how many of those cases were serious or req

PA Primary: Diamond on track to score major grassroots upset Posted by Nathan on April 17, 2008 | Comments (0) | Trackbacks (0) Unlike their Democratic brethren who are facing a difficult choice among two equally liberal, indistinguishable presidential candidates, Republican voters in the Keystone State’s 101st legislative district have a much easier choice on their hands. Incumbent Republican Mauree Gingrich, first elected in 2002, is seeking a fourth term in the Pennsylvania General As

What Fourth Estate...?

What Fourth Estate...? Thursday, April 17 2008 @ 01:30 PM PDT Contributed by: Joey Picador The Collapse Of The National Press By Hunter After the first forty minutes of last night's Democratic debate, it was clear we were watching something historic. Not historic in a good way, mind you, but historic in the sense of being something so deeply embarrassing to the nation that it will be pointed to, in future books and doentary works, as a prime example of the collapse of the Americ

Harman Gloss FB AL/Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 17:36:42 PDT
Yesterday afternoon, Mr. UPS delivered my most recent order of paper. To my delight, the delivery did, indeed, include my 17″x50′ roll of Harman Gloss FB AL and my 17″x40′ roll of Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk. So I set myself down, and I popped those rolls into the Z3100, and I cranked out profiles for both of them. Since I know that all of you have been waiting for my report on these two papers with bated breath, I will get right down to the brass tacks, the nitty gritty, and the bottom

“Deadliest Catch” Ratings

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 17:38:28 PDT
A little bit on the ratings for the season premiere. It was the highest ratings yet for a “Deadliest Catch” premiere, beat only by the third season finale…Not too shabby! Here are a couple of reviews. The first is from Multichannel News and the second is from Mediaweek… Discovery Channel’s Emmy-nominated Deadliest Catch returned Tuesday with its highest audience delivery of any season premiere ever, officials said Wednesday. The April 15 debuts at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. garnered 2.50 and 2.5

Torturers in the White House

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 17:38:50 PDT
Political Research Associates April 14, 2008 The biggest news of the last week went virtually uncovered by the mainstream, print media. ABC News first reported last Wednesday that top Bush Administration officials, including Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, John Ashcroft, and George Tenet, Colin Powell, and Donald Rumsfeld met to discuss which particular torture techniques should be used against Al Qaeda suspects in U.S. custody. Kristy Lee Cook Leaves American Idol 2008

It's now down to the Top 6 in American Idol 2008.
Last night, and as expected, one of the girls was voted off the show and it was Oregonian Kristy Lee Cook!
Kristy and two other girls were in the danger zone yesterday ... they got the lowest number of votes for their not so good performances of Mariah Carey's songs the night before.
Kristy stood there, side by side with Syesha Mercado and Brooke White.
After her elimination, Kristy Lee playfully sat on the judges' table right in front of Simon Cowell and serenaded him with her performance of Mariah's song 'Forever'.

Next week, the Top 6 will battle it out with Phantom of the Opera composer Andrew Lloyd Webber! That's gotta be hard!
